Christkindlmarket Chicago

Chicago’s largest outdoor holiday festival celebrates 10 years of bringing festive tradition and seasonal magic to Downtown Chicago!

Weihnachten 2005 - Christkindlmarket Chicago

Chicago’s very own German holiday village is inspired by the Christmas market in Nuremberg, Germany. Christkindlmarket Chicago with its wonderful sights, sounds and tastes has become the largest holiday market outside of Germany and draws over 1 Million visitors every year from the Midwest and across the US.

To mark its 10th Anniversary, Christkindlmarket will also host a Special Anniversary Raffle where participants can win a trip to Europe and other exciting prizes. In addition, the German National Tourist Office and Christkindlmarket present the First Annual Consumer Travel Show at Christkindlmarket Chicago on Saturday, December 10, 2005, from 1pm to 4pm. We are also proud to announce our marketing partnership with NBC5 & Telemundo and launch of Christkindlmarket’s first ever TV-Ads!

During four weeks in November and December, Christkindlmarket transforms Daley Plaza in downtown Chicago into a unique holiday village offering fun, excitement and German Gemütlichkeit. Featuring a large selection of European holiday ornaments and home decor, live traditional Bavarian glass blowing, hand-carved wood and holiday delicacies, Christkindlmarket offers a one of a kind shopping experience.

While parents are shopping, children can have fun riding the cute merry-go-round for tots, watching the puppeteer or visit Santa at the City’s Santa House. A special highlight for kids is the enchanting Children’s Lantern Parade on Friday, December 9, 2005. Music performances during the week will include the Canterbury Carollers in Victorian costumes, the Glen Sorgatz Brass Band and the German American Kinder Choir for the Children’s Lantern Parade. Thursday through Saturday evenings a German-American folk band will play live in the Festival Tent.

Visitors will be able to purchase the popular Christkindlmarket Chicago Souvenir Mug to take home and remember the occasion. This year we have a new, exciting design & form, a Christkindlmarket Holiday Boot, to mark our 10th anniversary! Many visitors have collected the signature mugs over the years. They are also ideal stocking stuffers.
