Christmas Lights

26th November – 24th December 2011

Firmly rooted in its German heritage and the tradition of Christkindelmarkets (little Jesus market), the Christmas Lights fire the imagination of hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.

Welcome to the 25th edition of the Christmas Lights! On this occasion, the town of Montbéliard will look stunning and plunge into a magical atmosphere during the four weeks of Advent. And if magic works, it’s no coincidence. The craftsmen are carefully chosen for their talent and creativity. Settled in wooden chalets around Saint Martin Protestant church, they show their beautiful and traditional works.

Illuminations

It feels like a dream: Christmas lights everywhere, magic in the air… the Montbéliard Christmas market never fails to enchant its visitors. Then the Christmas lights will also have you laugh, dance and sing as the town centre is bursting with street entertainment, music and songs. And exhibitions are truly delightful…

Christmas market

You will find everything you want in this small village of wooden chalets set in the heart of the City of Princes. Smoked meats, foie gras, flambéed pies, chocolates, biscuits, fried fish, hats, handbags, wool or silk scarves, jewels and also pieces of pottery, candles, glassware, paintings… As always, the Christmas market chalets are packed with tasty produce and lovely things suggesting gift ideas and giving your taste buds a real treat.

Basque country, guest of honour of the 2011 edition!

The Basque country is firmly rooted in its traditions and heritage: handicraft (jewels, Basque linen, knives, flavours and fragrances), gastronomy (Bayonne ham, salted meat, Basque cake, ewe’s milk cheese, Irouleguy wine) and culture (bandas: traditional music and dance). The generosity of the Basque country and its friendly, welcoming attitude to visitors will make the 2011 Christmas market truly unforgettable.
